The Department of Finance and Personnel makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 4(4) of the Forced Marriage (Civil Protection) Act 20071.

Citation and interpretation1

This Order may be cited as the Forced Marriage (Civil Protection) Act 2007 (Commencement No. 1) Order (Northern Ireland) 2008.

In this Order any reference to a numbered section or Schedule is a reference to the section of, or Schedule to, the Forced Marriage (Civil Protection) Act 2007 bearing that number.

Appointed day2

The day appointed for the coming into force of—

a

section 2 and Schedule 1 (except paragraph 3(2)(b) of that Schedule (application by a relevant third party), paragraph 3(7) of that Schedule insofar as it sets out the definition of “relevant third party”, paragraph 3(8) of that Schedule (orders under paragraph 3(7)), paragraph 9 of that Schedule (power to extend jurisdiction to courts of summary jurisdiction) and paragraph 14(1) of that Schedule (orders under paragraph 3(7));

b

section 3(1), in so far as it relates to Part 2 of Schedule 2; and

c

Part 2 of Schedule 2.

is 25th November 2008.
