The Secretary of State makes the following Order, in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 1(4) of the Criminal Justice (Northern Ireland) Order 2008 (1)
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice (Northern Ireland) Order 2008 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2008.
(2) In this Order—
“the 2008 Order” means the Criminal Justice (Northern Ireland) Order 2008.
2.—(1) The provisions of the 2008 Order specified in Part I of the Schedule to this Order shall come into operation on 8th December 2008.
(2) The provisions of the 2008 Order specified in Part II of the Schedule to this Order shall come into operation on 19th December 2008.
(3) The provisions of the 2008 Order specified in Part III of the Schedule to this Order shall come into operation on 5th January 2009.
(4) The provisions of the 2008 Order specified in Part IV of the Schedule to this Order shall come into operation on 2nd February 2009.

This Order brings into operation on 8th December 2008 provisions of the Criminal Justice (Northern Ireland) Order 2008 dealing with the test purchasing of alcohol and pre charge bail provisions.
The Order also brings into operation on 19th December 2008 provisions regarding offences dealing with prison security.
The Order also brings into operation on 5th January 2009 provisions regarding the seizure and retention of vehicles used in a manner causing alarm, distress or annoyance.
The Order also brings into operation on 2nd February 2009 provisions regarding live links in court proceedings.

The following provisions of the 2008 Order have been brought into operation by earlier Commencement Orders as from the date shown.
