(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations further amend the Disabled Persons (Badges for Motor Vehicles) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1993.

The principal amendments are—

  • To modify the descriptions of persons to whom a disabled person’s badge may be issued and to add a new class of eligibility. The new class of eligibility is a child aged two years or less who falls within either or both of the descriptions specified in regulation 4(3) (regulation 2(2) and (4)).

  • To provide for badges to be issued for periods of less than 3 years to persons in receipt of specified allowances, and in respect of children under the age of two (regulation 2(5)).

  • To substitute for the diagrams of the front of an individual’s badge and of a support organisation’s badge new diagrams incorporating an indication that it is the front of the badge in Part I of the Schedule and a revised specification in Part II of the Schedule incorporating a hologram (regulation 2(3) and (7)).
