Obligation to notify in case of suspicion of a listed disease or increased mortalityI126

It is an offence for a relevant person who knows or suspects that a listed disease is present in any aquatic animal to fail to notify immediately the Department of that knowledge or suspicion.

It is an offence for a relevant person who knows or suspects that increased mortality has occurred or is occurring in aquaculture animals to fail to notify immediately the Department or a veterinarian of that knowledge or suspicion.

In this regulation a “relevant person” means—

a

the owner of, or any person attending, any aquatic animal;

b

any person accompanying any aquaculture animal during transport;

c

any professional person involved in aquatic animal health services;

d

any veterinarian or senior member of staff of any laboratory; or

e

any other person with an occupational relationship to aquatic animals of susceptible species or to the products of such animals.
