The Department of Finance and Personnel makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 47(1) and (2) of the Births and Deaths Registration (Northern Ireland) Order 19761, Articles 3(3)(b), 19(1)(a), 35(3), 36(1)(b) and (3) and 37 of the Marriage (Northern Ireland) Order 20032, and Section 157(1) of the Civil Partnership Act 20043.

Citation, commencement and interpretationI11

This order may be cited as the General Register Office (Fees) Order (Northern Ireland) 2010 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2011.

The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 19544 shall apply to this Order as it applies to an Act of the Assembly.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order provides for the increase of various fees payable under the Births and Deaths Registration (Northern Ireland) Order 1976 relating to searches in registers, the provision of certificates and change of name services. It also provides for the increase of various fees payable under the Marriage (Northern Ireland) Order 2003 relating to giving notice for intended marriage, the solemnisation of civil marriage and providing marriage certificates. It also provides for the various fees payable under the Civil Partnership Act 2004 relating to giving notice for intended civil partnership, the registration of civil partnership and providing civil partnership certificates.

This Order revokes and replaces the General Register Office (Fees) Order (Northern Ireland) 2008
