Citation and Commencement1

These Regulations may be cited as the Strangford Lough (Sea Fishing Exclusion Zones) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2011 and shall come into operation on 14th March 2011.

Interpretation2

In these Regulations—

  • “co-ordinate” means a co-ordinate of latitude and longitude on the World Geodetic System 1984;

  • “Strangford Lough” means the sea area to the northwest of an imaginary straight line drawn from Killard Point to Ballyquintin Point, County Down;

  • “Zones1 and 2” means those parts of Strangford Lough which lie within the boundaries specified in paragraph (2).

Those boundaries are—

a

in relation to Zone 1, a straight line joining the co-ordinates lettered A, B, C and D in the table in Part 1 of the Schedule; and

b

in relation to Zone 2, a straight line joining the co-ordinates lettered A, B, C and D in the table in Part 2 of the Schedule

Prohibition of fishing3

All fishing for sea-fish within Zones 1 and 2 by any sea-fishing boat is prohibited.
