MAGISTRATES’ COURTS

These Rules amend the Magistrates’ Courts Rules (Children (Northern Ireland) Order 1995) Rules 1996 (S.R. 1996 No. 323) to:provide for proceedings under the Convention on Jurisdiction, Applicable Law, Recognition, Enforcement and Co-operation in respect of Parental Responsibility and Measures for the Protection of Children (“the Convention”);amend the provisions for proceedings under Council Regulation (EC) No. 2201/2003 of 27th November 2003 concerning jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in matrimonial matters and the matters of parental responsibility (“the Council Regulation”);provide the practice and procedure for applications for the recognition of judgments under the Convention; andamend the practice and procedure for the recognition of judgments under the Council Regulation.
