Coming into operation

The Department of the Environment being a Department designated1 for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972(2 in relation to the environment, acting in exercise of the powers conferred upon it by that section, makes the following Regulations.

Citation and commencement1

These Regulations may be cited as the Quality of Bathing Water (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2012 and shall come into operation on 1st June 2012.

Interpretation2

The Interpretation Act (Northern Ireland) 1954(3 applies to these Regulations as it applies to an Act of the Assembly.

Amendments to the Quality of Bathing Water Regulations (Northern Ireland) 20083

For Schedule 1 to the Quality of Bathing Water Regulations (Northern Ireland) 20084 substitute the Schedule set out in the Schedule to these Regulations.

These Regulations amend Schedule 1 of the Quality of Bathing Water Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2008 to remove Cranfield (Nicholson’s Strand) from the list of bathing waters set out in the Schedule to those Regulations.
