Coming into operation
The Northern Ireland Court of Judicature Rules Committee1 makes the following Rules in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 55 and 55A of the Judicature (Northern Ireland) Act 19782.

Citation and commencement1.

These Rules may be cited as the Rules of the Court of Judicature (Northern Ireland) (Amendment) 2012 and come into operation on 1st August 2012.

Amendments to the Rules of the Court of Judicature (Northern Ireland) 198032.

In Order 79, in rule 11, after “Where a person has been released on bail” insert “, including bail under section 91 of the Justice Act (Northern Ireland) 2011,”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Rules)

These Rules amend the Rules of the Court of Judicature (Northern Ireland) 1980 [S.R. 1980 No. 346] to take account of section 91 of the Justice Act (Northern Ireland) 2011 which provides the magistrates’ courts with the power to grant bail on compassionate grounds.
