Tenure of panel members

4.—(1) The chairperson and panel members shall hold and vacate office in accordance with the terms of their appointment.

(2) The chairperson and panel members shall be appointed for a period not exceeding 4 years.

(3) The chairperson and panel members may be appointed for periods of different duration.

(4) A person appointed as chairperson may hold that office until their term of office expires.

(5) Subject to regulation 3(2), a chairperson or a panel member may, on the termination of the period of tenure of office, be eligible for re-appointment for such further period, not exceeding 4 years.

(6) A chairperson or panel member appointed to fill a casual vacancy is to serve in that office until the date upon which the term of office of the person in whose place that panel member is appointed would have expired.

(7) A chairperson or panel member may resign by giving a signed notice in writing to the Department.

(8) The Department may by notice in writing remove a person from office as a chairperson or panel member.
