EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order brings into operation section 5(1) (disqualification of holders of prescribed offices and appointments) of the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 2014. Section 5(2) was commenced by the Local Government (2014 Act) (Commencement No. 2) Order 2014 (2014 No. 153 (C. 8).
This Order brings into operation section 115 (exclusion of non-commercial considerations) of the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 2014 which amends article 19 of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Northern Ireland) Order 1992 to permit the Department to provide for a specified matter to cease to be a non-commercial matter for the purposes of Article 19.
This Order also commences paragraph 2 of Schedule 9 to, the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 2014 which amends section 42 (councillors not to be appointed officers) of the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 1972.
