Before placing a product on the market, a manufacturer shall ensure that it bears a type, batch, serial number or other element allowing its identification.

If the size or nature of the product does not provide sufficient space for the labelling requirements in paragraph (1), the manufacturer shall ensure that the information is provided on the packaging or in a document accompanying the product.
