These Regulations may be cited as the Enforcement of Fines and Other Penalties Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2018 and shall come into operation on the 1st June 2018.

In these Regulations—

• “the Act” means the Justice Act (Northern Ireland) 2016;

• “the Department” means the Department of Justice;

• “proper officer” means—

  1. a

     if the responsible court is the Crown Court, the chief clerk; or

  2. b

     if the responsible court is a magistrates’ court, the clerk of petty sessions.
