1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Water Environment (Floods Directive) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2018 and will come into operation on 27th July 2018.
2.—(1) The Water Environment (Floods Directive) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009(3) shall be amended as provided by paragraphs (2) to (4).
(2) In regulation 2 (Interpretation), in paragraph (2) for the definition of “the Department” there shall be substituted—
“the Department means the Department for Infrastructure;”
(3) In regulation 19(2)(a), for “Rivers” to the end substitute “its headquarters and through its website”.
(4) In regulation 19(4), for sub-paragraphs (d) to (f) substitute—
“(d)the Department of Communities.
(e)the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs.”

Regulation 2 amends regulation 2(2) of the Water Environment (Floods Directive) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2009 so as to make the Department for Infrastructure the competent authority for the purposes of the implementation of the Floods Directive. It also amends the list of consultees for flood risk management plans.
