Coming into force

The Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs, being a Department designated1 for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 19722 in relation to measures relating to the control and regulation of genetically modified organisms, makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by that section, and by Article 8(4) of the Genetically Modified Organisms (Northern Ireland) Order 19913, having consulted the Food Standards Agency in accordance with Article 22(5) of that Order.
