29.—(1) The Food Information Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2014(1) are amended in accordance with paragraphs (2) to (5).
(2) In regulation 2(1) (Interpretation) —
(a)in the definition of “Directive 1999/2/EC” after “radiation” insert “as last amended by Regulation (EC) No 1137/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council”(2);
(b)for the definition of “FIC” substitute ““FIC” means, subject to regulation 2(3) and Schedule 1, Regulation (EU) No 1169/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the provision of food information to consumers, amending Regulations (EC) No 1924/2006 and (EC) No 1925/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council, and repealing Commission Directive 87/250/EEC, Council Directive 90/496/EEC, Commission Directive 1999/10/EC, Directive 2000/13/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, Commission Directives 2002/67/EC and 2008/5/EC and Commission Regulation (EC) No 608/2004 as last amended by Regulation (EU) 2015/2283 of the European Parliament and of the Council(3)”;
(c)in both the definition of “final consumer” and “food business operator” after “food safety” insert “as last amended by Regulation (EU) 2017/745 of the European Parliament and of the Council”(4);
(d)for the definition of “Regulation 828/2014” substitute “”Regulation 828/2014” means, subject to regulation 2(3) and Schedule 1, Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 828/2014 on the requirements for the provision of information to consumers on the absence or reduced presence of gluten in food.”
(3) In regulation 7(7) (Foods that are not prepacked etc. containing meat and other ingredients), in the definition of “mechanically separated meat” after “animal origin” insert “as last amended by Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/1981”(5).
(4) In Schedule 3 (Foods to which regulation 7 does not apply) in paragraph 3 after “poultrymeat” insert, “as last amended by Commission Regulation (EU) No 519/2013”(6).
(5) In Schedule 5 (Improvement notices – specified provisions) part 2—
(a)in paragraph 26 after “honey” insert “as last amended by Directive 2014/63/EU of the European Parliament and of the Council”(7); and
(b)in paragraph 37 after “consumption” insert “as last amended by Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) No 1040/2014(8)”.
