1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Regulation and Improvement Authority (Fees and Frequency of Inspections) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022 and shall come into operation on 1st May 2022.
(2) In these regulations “the principal regulations” means the Regulation and Improvement Authority (Fees and Frequency of Inspections) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2005(3).
2.—(1) The principal regulations shall be amended in accordance with the following paragraph:
(2) In regulation 6 (Frequency of Inspections)—
(a)in paragraph (1)(a) omit the word “and”;
(b)after paragraph (1)(a) insert “(aa) in the case of an independent hospital where the treatment provided includes dental treatment under general anaesthesia or sedation, a minimum of once in every 24 month period; and”;
(c)in paragraph (6) after “following year” add “and “24 month period” means a period commencing on and including 1st April in any year and ending on 31st March 2 years later.”.

These Regulations amend Regulation 6 of the Regulation and Improvement Authority (Fees and Frequency of Inspections) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2005 by setting a new statutory minimum period for inspections of Dental Practices.
