The Health Protection (Coronavirus, International Travel, Operator Liability and Information to Passengers) (Revocation) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022

The Department of Health(1), makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 25B and 25F(2) of the Public Health Act (Northern Ireland) 1967(2)

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Health Protection (Coronavirus, International Travel, Operator Liability and Information to Passengers) (Revocation) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2022.

(2) These Regulations come into operation at 4.00am on 18th March 2022.

Revocation of all Coronavirus (International Travel) Regulations

2.—(1) The following Regulations are revoked—

(a)The Health Protection (Coronavirus, International Travel) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2021(3),

(b)The Health Protection (Coronavirus, International Travel, Operator Liability and Information to Passengers) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2021(4).

(2) In consequence, the Regulations specified in the Schedule are revoked.

Transitional provisions: tests booked but not undertaken before revocation

3.—(1) This regulation applies in respect of a person who—

(a)arrived in Northern Ireland before the coming into operation of these Regulations, and

(b)at the time of arrival, was subject to the provisions of—

(i)regulation 8 of the principal Regulations in respect of tests, or

(ii)regulation 9A of the principal Regulations in respect of workforce tests.

(2) Those persons are obliged to undertake those tests if those tests were booked before the coming into operation of these Regulations, and accordingly, the principal Regulations continue to apply in respect of those persons in respect of those tests, for this purpose.

(3) In this regulation “the principal Regulations” mean the Health Protection (Coronavirus, International Travel) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2021.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations revoke the Health Protection (Coronavirus, International Travel) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2021 and The Health Protection (Coronavirus, International Travel, Operator Liability and Information to Passengers) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2021 (the Operator Liability Regulations). They also revoke all previous Regulations which amended these Regulations. This comprises a revocation of all the Regulations governing international travel made in consequence of coronavirus.

Regulation 3 is a transitional provision which means that tests booked before these revocations take effect must still be undertaken if the person arrived in Northern Ireland before these revocations take effect.

No impact assessment has been prepared for these Regulations.
