Coming into operation

The Department for Communities1 makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 122(1)(a) and (d), 132(3) and (4)(b), 132A(3) and 171(1), (3) and (4) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits (Northern Ireland) Act 19922, Articles 14(1) and (4)(b) and 36(1) and (2) of the Jobseekers (Northern Ireland) Order 19953, sections 15(3) and (6)(b) and 19(1) to (3) of the State Pension Credit Act (Northern Ireland) 20024, and now vested in it5, sections 17(1) and (3)(b) and 25(1) and (2) of the Welfare Reform Act (Northern Ireland) 20076 and Article 48(1) and (2) of, and paragraph 4(1) and (3)(a) of Schedule 1 to, the Welfare Reform (Northern Ireland) Order 20157.

The Powers are exercisable by the Department for Communities by virtue of Article 2 the Welfare Reform (Northern Ireland) Order 2015 (Cessation of Transitory Provision) Order 20208.

Regulations 5 and 6 are made with the consent of the Department of Finance9.

Proposals in respect of these Regulations were not referred to the Social Security Advisory Committee since it appeared to the Department for Communities that by reason of the urgency of the matter it was expedient not to do so10.
