Coming into operation

The Department for Infrastructure1, makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 41(2) and 45(1)(b) of the Disability Discrimination Act 19952 and now vested in it3.

Citation and commencement1

These Regulations may be cited as the Public Service Vehicles Accessibility (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2023 and shall come into operation on 1st October 2023.

Amendment of the Public Service Vehicles Accessibility Regulations2

The Public Service Vehicles Accessibility Regulations (Northern Ireland) 20034 are amended in accordance with paragraph (2).

In regulation 7 (applications and fees for accessibility certificates), in paragraph (2)—

a

in sub-paragraph (a)—

i

in head (i) for “£28.00” substitute “£46.00”; and

ii

in head (ii) for “£55.00” substitute “£70.50”; and

b

in sub-paragraph (b)—

i

in head (i) for “£10.00” substitute “£17.00”; and

ii

in head (ii) for “£20.00” substitute “£38.00”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Public Service Vehicles Accessibility Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 in order to increase the fees payable in respect of applications for accessibility certificates.

On first application, where the vehicle is required to comply with the only one of Schedules 1, 2 or 3 the fee is increased from £28.00 to £46.00 and on subsequent application the fee is increased from £10.00 to £17.00.

On first application, where the vehicle is required to comply with Schedules 1 and 2 or Schedules 1 and 3 the fee is increased from £55.00 to £70.50 and on subsequent application the fee is increased from £20.00 to £38.00.
