These Regulations amend the Social Fund Maternity and Funeral Expenses (General) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2005 (“the Maternity and Funeral Expenses Regulations”) to reflect an amendment made to the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008, which allows for a sole applicant for a parental order, whereas previously only couples could apply.
Regulation 1 provides for citation and commencement.
Regulation 2 amends regulation 2(1) of the Maternity and Funeral Expenses Regulations to include section 54A of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 2008.
See Article 8(b) of S.R. 1999 No. 481 and section 1(7) of the Departments Act (Northern Ireland) 2016 (c. 5 (N.I.))
Relevant amending instrument is S.R.2010 No. 378, see Regulation 2(2)(e)
