The Climate Change (Annual Targets) (Scotland) Order 2016

Coming into force
The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 4(1) of the Climate Change (Scotland) Act 20091 and all other powers enabling them to do so.
In accordance with section 4(3) of that Act, the Scottish Ministers, when setting the annual targets, had regard to the advice they received from the relevant body2 as to the cumulative amount of net Scottish emissions for the period 2010-2050 that is consistent with a reduction over that period of net Scottish emissions accounts which would allow the 2050 target to be met.
In accordance with section 4(4) of that Act, the Scottish Ministers, when setting the annual targets, had regard to the matters specified in that provision.
In accordance with section 5(1) and (2) of that Act, before laying a draft of this instrument, the Scottish Ministers requested advice from the relevant body.
In accordance with section 96(4) of that Act3, a draft of this instrument has been laid before and approved by resolution of the Scottish Parliament.
Citation and commencement1
This Order may be cited as the Climate Change (Annual Targets) (Scotland) Order 2016 and comes into force on the day after the day on which it is made.
Annual targets for each year in the period 2028-20322
The annual targets, expressed in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent4, for each year in the period 2028-2032 are set as follows—
a
the annual target for 2028 is 29,854,000;
b
the annual target for 2029 is 28,958,000;
c
the annual target for 2030 is 28,089,000;
d
the annual target for 2031 is 27,247,000; and
e
the annual target for 2032 is 26,429,000.
