The Welfare Reform and Pensions Act 1999 (Scotland) (Commencement No. 6) Order 2000

The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 89(1) of the Welfare Reform and Pensions Act 1999(1), make the following order:

Citation and intepretation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Welfare Reform and Pensions Act 1999 (Scotland) (Commencement No. 6) Order 2000.

(2) In this Order, “Act” means the Welfare Reform and Pensions Act 1999.

Appointed day

2.  The day appointed for the coming into force of–

(a)section 84(1) of the Act so far as relating to paragraphs 8(3) and (4) of Schedule 12 to the Act; and

(b)paragraphs 8(3) and (4) of Schedule 12 to the Act,

is 15th April 2000.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order provides for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Welfare Reform and Pensions Act 1999 on 15th April 2000–

paragraphs 8(3) and (4) of Schedule 12, and section 84(1) so far as it relates to those paragraphs.

The following provisions have been brought into force by–

(1)

1999 c. 30. The functions of the Secretary of State were transferred to the Scottish Ministers by virtue of section 53 of the Scotland Act 1998 (c. 46) as read with section 91(4) of the Welfare Reform and Pensions Act 1999 (“the 1999 Act”) which deemed section 89(1) insofar as it relates to the provisions of paragraphs 8(3) and (4) of Schedule 12 to the 1999 Act to be a pre-commencement enactment.
