The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 153(4) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990(1) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:
1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes (Scotland) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 1st January 2001.
(2) This Order extends to Scotland only.
2. Section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990(2) (purposes for which financial assistance may be given), shall be varied by adding after paragraph (ll) the following paragraph:–
“(mm)the programme known as the Strategic Waste Fund.”.

This Order varies section 153(1) of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 so as to enable the Scottish Ministers to give financial assistance for the purposes of the grant programme known as the Strategic Waste Fund with effect from 1st January 2001.
