(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations, which extend to Scotland only, amend the Cattle Database Regulations 1998 and the Cattle (Identification of Older Animals) (Scotland) Regulations 2001. They reduce from 7 days to 3 days the period within which notification of movements of cattle must be posted or made by electronic means by a keeper to the Scottish Ministers.

This is in accordance with the requirements of the second indent of Article 7.1 of Regulation (EC) No. 1760/2000 establishing a system for the identification and registration of bovine animals (O.J. No. L 204, 11.8.2000, p.1).

A Regulatory Impact Assessment has not been prepared for these Regulations.
