The Adoption (Intercountry Aspects) Act 1999 (Commencement No. 7) (Scotland) Order 2002

The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 18(3) of the Adoption (Intercountry Aspects) Act 1999(1), hereby make the following Order:

Citation and extent

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Adoption (Intercountry Aspects) Act 1999 (Commencement No. 7) (Scotland) Order 2002.

(2) This Order extends to Scotland only.

Appointed day

2.  14th January 2003 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Adoption (Intercountry Aspects) Act 1999:–

(a)section 1 (regulations giving effect to Convention); and

(b)section 12 (registration of certain intercountry adoptions) insofar as it amends the Adoption (Scotland) Act 1978(2).

Explanatory Note

This Order, which extends to Scotland only, brings into force on 14th January 2003 the following provisions of the Adoption (Intercountry Aspects) Act 1999:–
