The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 191(2) and 195(3) of the Housing (Scotland) Act 2006(1), hereby make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Housing (Scotland) Act 2006 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2006.
2. The day appointed for the coming into force of sections 178 and 180 of the Housing (Scotland) Act 2006 is 17th May 2006.

This Order brings into force on 17th May 2006 two provisions of the Housing (Scotland) Act 2006: section 178, which relates to the permissible purposes of registered social landlords, and section 180, which amends the Housing (Scotland) Act 1988 (c. 43) to clarify the sheriff’s powers to make an order for possession in defined circumstances.
