If a child who is being looked after by a local authority dies the authority must immediately–

a

notify the Scottish Ministers; F1...

notify Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland; and

b

so far as is reasonably practicable notify the parents of the child and every person who has any parental responsibilities or parental rights in relation to the child.

The requirement to notify at paragraph (1)(b) does not apply in respect of any person with whom the child was residing at the time of their death.
