The Alcohol etc. (Scotland) Act 2010 (Commencement) Order 2011

The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 18(1) and (2) of the Alcohol etc. (Scotland) Act 2010(1).

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Alcohol etc. (Scotland) Act 2010 (Commencement) Order 2011.

Commencement

2.—(1) The provisions of the Alcohol etc. (Scotland) Act 2010 specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this Order (the subject matter of which is specified in column 2 of the Schedule) come into force on the corresponding date specified in column 3 of the Schedule.

(2) Where a purpose is specified in column 4 of the Schedule, the corresponding provision specified in column 1 of the Schedule only comes into force for that purpose.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force the substantive elements of the Alcohol etc. (Scotland) Act 2010 (“the Act”). Sections 17 and 18 of the Act came into force on Royal Assent on 15th December 2010. As set out in the Schedule to this Order, section 12 comes into force on 1st April 2012 and all of the other provisions being commenced come into force on 1st October 2011. Column 4 of the Schedule specifies the purpose for which particular provisions come into force. Section 1 of the Act is not being commenced as it has no practical effect.
