Coming into force

The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 17(2) and 24(4) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 19731 and all other powers enabling them to do so and giving effect without modifications to proposals submitted to them on 14th June 2011 by the Boundary Commission under section 16(3) of that Act regarding electoral arrangements for the area of West Lothian Council.

Citation, commencement and application1

This Order may be cited as the West Lothian (Electoral Arrangements) Councillor Numbers Order 2011 and comes into force on 3rd November 2011.

This Order applies only for the purposes of elections to be held on or after 3rd May 2012.

Number of Councillors2

The number of councillors to be returned for West Lothian Council local government electoral ward number 8, Bathgate, is 42.

Amendment of the West Lothian (Electoral Arrangements) Order 20063

In the Schedule to the West Lothian (Electoral Arrangements) Order 20063 (electoral wards) in column 3 of the entry for ward number 8, Bathgate, for “3” substitute “4”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order sets the number of councillors to be returned for the West Lothian Council electoral ward of Bathgate at 4 and amends the entry relating to councillor numbers in the West Lothian (Electoral Arrangements) Order 2006 (electoral wards) accordingly.
