7.—(1) Where a sample of water must, under this Part, be taken from a consumer's tap within a water supply zone, the tap must be selected at random unless the Scottish Ministers otherwise direct (in exercise of powers under section 56(3) of the Water Industry (Scotland) Act 2002 M1).

(2) Paragraph (1) does not apply if the sample is to be taken instead from an alternative point within the same water supply zone which is authorised for that purpose under regulation 8.
