(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order updates the list of public bodies in schedule 1 of the Climate Change (Duties of Public Bodies: Reporting Requirements) (Scotland) Order 2015. Bodies listed in that schedule are required to prepare reports on compliance with climate change duties imposed under (or by virtue of) section 44 of the Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009.
This Order also amends the type of information to be included within each report, a copy of which must be sent to the Scottish Ministers, by adding a requirement that, where applicable, public bodies must report on their progress in delivering their emissions reduction targets. Article 2(3)(c) makes reference to the programme for adaptation to climate change laid before the Scottish Parliament under section 53(2) of the Climate Change (Scotland) Act 2009. The most recent version is entitled “Climate Ready Scotland: Second Scottish Adaptation Programme 2019-2024” (ISBN 978-1-83960-121-7), which was published by the Scottish Government in September 2019. An electronic copy of that version is available at: https://www.gov.scot/isbn/9781839601217.
Article 3 contains a savings provision, the effect of which is that the amendments made by this Order do not apply to the report year ending on 31 March 2021.
