The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 12(2) of the Public Health etc. (Scotland) Act 2008(1) and all other powers enabling them to do so.
In accordance with section 122(3) of that Act the Scottish Ministers have consulted such persons as they consider appropriate.
1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Public Health etc. (Scotland) Act 2008 (Notifiable Diseases and Notifiable Organisms) Amendment Regulations 2020.
(2) These Regulations come into force on 22 February 2020.
2.—(1) The Public Health etc. (Scotland) Act 2008 is amended in accordance with paragraph (2).
(2) In schedule 1 (lists of notifiable diseases and notifiable organisms)—
(a)in Part 1 (notifiable diseases) after “Clinical syndrome due to E.coli 0157 infection” insert “Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)”, and
(b)in Part 2 (notifiable organisms) after “SARS-associated coronavirus” insert “Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)”.

These Regulations amend Part 1 and 2 of schedule 1 of the Public Health etc. (Scotland) Act 2008 to add coronavirus disease 2019 to the list of notifiable diseases and to add severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 to the list of notifiable organisms.
