Citation, commencement, extent and interpretation1

These Regulations may be cited as the Representation of the People (Combination of Polls) (England and Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2014 and come into force on 22nd May 2014.

These Regulations extend to England and Wales only.

In these Regulations “the 2004 Regulations” means the Representation of the People (Combination of Polls) (England and Wales) Regulations 20047.

Mayoral election and referendum2

The 2004 Regulations are amended as follows.

In regulation 2(1), and paragraph 2 of Schedule 2—

a

in the definition of “mayoral election” for “the Local Authorities (Mayoral Elections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2002” substitute “the Local Authorities (Mayoral Elections) (England and Wales) Regulations 2007”8; and

b

in the definition of “referendum” for “the Local Authorities (Conduct of Referendums) (England) Regulations 2001” substitute “the Local Authorities (Conduct of Referendums) (England) Regulations 2012”9.

Form of directions for the guidance of voters in voting4

For paragraph 28 of that Schedule substitute—

Form of declaration by companion of a voter with disabilities5

For paragraph 29 of that Schedule substitute—

In the Appendix of forms, for the form of declaration to be made by the companion of a voter with disabilities substitute the form of that declaration in the Appendix of Forms to this Schedule.

Appendix of Forms6

At the end of Schedule 2 to the 2004 Regulations insert the Appendix of Forms in the Schedule.

Revocations7

Regulation 4(12) and (13) of the Representation of the People (Combination of Polls) (England and Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 200610 are revoked.
