Amendment of the Magistrates’ Courts Act 1980

22.—(1) Section 19 of the Magistrates’ Courts Act 1980 (decision as to allocation)(1) is amended as follows.
(2) In subsection (5)—
(a)at the end of paragraph (a), insert “or”;
(b)omit paragraph (aa).
(3) Omit subsection (5A).

1980 c. 43; section 19 was amended by paragraph 5 of Schedule 3 to the Criminal Justice Act 2003 (c. 44), and paragraph 4 of Schedule 17, paragraph 80 of Schedule 21, and Part 5 of Schedule 23 to the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (c. 25).

Draft Explanatory Memorandum
Draft Explanatory Memorandum sets out a brief statement of the purpose of a Draft Statutory Instrument and provides information about its policy objective and policy implications. They aim to make the Draft Statutory Instrument accessible to readers who are not legally qualified and accompany any Statutory Instrument or Draft Statutory Instrument laid before Parliament from June 2004 onwards.
