Coming into force in accordance with regulation 1

The Treasury are a government department designated1 for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 19722 in relation to financial services.

The Treasury make these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972, section 349(1)(b) of the Financial Services and Markets Act 20003, and sections 8(1) and 23(1) of, and paragraph 1(1) of Schedule 4 to and paragraph 21 of Schedule 7 to, the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 20184.

A draft of these Regulations has been approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament in accordance with paragraph 1(1) of Schedule 7 to the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018.
