The Secretary of State may require the applicant to provide such additional information or evidence in support of the application as the Secretary of State may request.

Where the Secretary of State has requested additional information or evidence under paragraph (1), the applicant must provide that information or evidence before the end of the period specified by the Secretary of State in the request.
