The Coroners (Suspension of Requirement for Jury at Inquest: Coronavirus) Regulations 2024

Coming into force in accordance with regulation 1(1)

The Lord Chancellor makes these Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by section 42(6) of the Judicial Review and Courts Act 20221 (“the 2022 Act”).

In accordance with section 42(5) of the 2022 Act, the Lord Chancellor, having assessed the likely effects of the expiry of section 7(5) of the Coroners and Justice Act 20092 on the coronial system, considers that it would be expedient for section 7(5) of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 to continue in force beyond 27th June 2024.

A draft of these Regulations has been laid before, and approved by a resolution of, each House of Parliament in accordance with section 42(8) of the 2022 Act.
