17Confidentiality

(1)

A person who discloses information which he has obtained by virtue of this Part of this Act and which relates to the affairs of a particular business shall be guilty of an offence unless he does so—

(a)

with the consent of the person for the time being carrying on the business; or

(b)

in the exercise of functions under this Part of this Act.

(2)

A person guilty of an offence under this section shall be liable—

(a)

on summary conviction, to a fine not exceeding the statutory maximum; and

(b)

on conviction on indictment, to imprisonment not exceeding two years or a fine or both.
