13Powers of community support officers
(1)
Where a designation applies paragraph 1 of Schedule 4 to the 2002 Act (community support officers: power to issue fixed penalty notices) to any person that person shall have the power of an authorised officer or a constable to give a fixed penalty notice under section 5(1) in relation to any individual who he has reason to believe has committed a relevant offence at a place within the area of the council.
(2)
Arelevant offence (within the meaning of this Act) shall be treated as a relevant offence for the purposes of the following provisions of Part 1 of Schedule 4 to the 2002 Act (community support officers)—
(a)
paragraph 1A (power to require name and address);
(b)
paragraph 2 (power to detain, etc);
(c)
paragraph 4 (power to use reasonable force to detain person).
(3)
In this section—
“the 2002 Act” means the Police Reform Act 2002;
“designation” means a designation under section 38 of the 2002 Act.
