The Competition and Service (Utilities) Act 1992 (Commencement No.1) Order 1992
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 56(2) of the Competition and Service (Utilities) Act 1992F1. hereby makes the following Order:—
Citation, commencement and interpretation1.
(1)
This Order may be cited as the Competition and Service (Utilities) Act 1992 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1992.
(2)
In this Order, “the 1992 Act” means the Competition and Service (Utilities) Act 1992.
Provisions of the 1992 Act commenced by this Order2.
Sections 37 and 55 of the 1992 Act shall come into force on 30th May 1992.

The provisions of the 1992 Act specified in Part I of the Schedule to this Order shall come into force on the 1st July 1992.
4.
The provisions of the 1992 Act specified in Part II of the Schedule to the Order shall come into force on 1st September 1992.

This Order brings into force most of the provisions of the Competition and Service (Utilities) Act 1992 (“the Act”), as follows:
—30th May 1992—sections 37 and 55;
—1st July 1992—all provisions not mentioned above and below;
—1st September—sections 5, 16, 34, 35 and 51 and paragraph 31 of Schedule 1.
This is the first Commencement Order made under the Act. Sections 54 and 56(1) to (5) of the Act were brought into force on the passing of the Act by virtue of section 56(2) thereof.
No commencement date has yet been set for sections 6(1) (to the extent that it inserts a new section 27G(8) in the Telecommunications Act 1984), 7 (to the extent that it inserts a new section 27H(4) of the Telecommunications Act 1984), 17, 23 and 36.
