Appeals against refusals in Scotland E+W+S

24 (1) Where an appropriate authority in Scotland refuse any application for the grant or renewal of a bookmaker’s permit, betting agency permit or betting office licence, the authority shall forthwith notify the applicant of the refusal and he may appeal, within such time, and in accordance with such rules, as may be prescribed by the Court of Session by act of sederunt, to the sheriff having jurisdiction in the authority’s area. (3) For the purposes of paragraphs 10, 33 and 34 of this Schedule, the grant or renewal of a permit or licence by the sheriff under this paragraph shall be treated as if it were a grant or renewal by the appropriate authority who refused it.
