[F2(1)] A notice to treat may not be served by the acquiring authority after the end of the [F3applicable period] beginning with the day on which the compulsory purchase order becomes operative.

[F4(2)The applicable period is—

(a)3 years, or

(b)such longer period as is specified in the order for the purposes of this section.]]
