Section 3.

SCHEDULE 4Local Loans

1Loans to any local authority for any purpose for which the authority have power to borrow, whether by virtue of any enactment or otherwise.

In this paragraph " local authority " means—

(a)any authority in Great Britain being, within the meaning of the [1875 c. 83.] Local Loans Act 1875, an authority having power to levy a rate,

(b)any port health authority or joint board constituted by an order under the [1936 c. 49.] Public Health Act 1936, or under any enactment repealed by that Act,

(c)any joint board in Scotland as defined by section 379(1) of the [1947 c. 43.] Local Government (Scotland) Act 1947.

2Loans to any authority in Great Britain under—

  • Section 3 of the [1861 c. 47.] Harbours and Passing Tolls, &c, Act 1861.

  • Section 663 of the [1894 c. 60.] Merchant Shipping Act 1894, (lighthouses, buoys and beacons).

3Loans to any person under section 78 of the [1950 c. 34.] Housing (Scotland) Act 1950 or section 47 of the [1958 c. 42.] Housing (Financial Provisions) Act 1958 (loans to companies, housing associations and individuals for housing).
