5Provisions relating to Northern Ireland.

The following provisions of this Act, that is to say, sections 2 to 4, and so much of this Act as repeals the enactments mentioned in Parts III and IV of the Schedule shall not extend to Northern Ireland; but notwithstanding anything in the [1920 c. 67.] Government of Ireland Act 1920, the Parliament of Northern Ireland shall have power to make laws for purposes similar to the purposes of those provisions.

Save as expressly provided by subsection (1) above, this Act extends to Northern Ireland and shall, as respects matters within the powers of the Parliament of Northern Ireland, be subject to alteration by that Parliament as if it had been an Act passed before the day appointed for the purposes of section 6 of the [1920 c. 67.] Government of Ireland Act 1920.

The repeal by this Act of any enactment mentioned in Part II of the Schedule to this Act shall not affect the continued operation of section 20 of the [1869 c. 42.] Irish Church Act 1869.
