(1)In the appointment of persons to be members of any of the following advisory committees or councils, that is to say, the Transport users’ Consultative Committees [F1the Rail Users’ Consultative Committees,][F2the London Regional Passengers’ Committee], [F3the Gas Consumers’ Council], the [F4consumers’ committees appointed under section 2 of the Electricity Act 1989], the Post Office Users’ Councils [F5and the Domestic Coal Consumers’ Council], regard shall be had to the desirability of the committee or council in question including one or more persons with experience of work among, and the special needs of, disabled persons and to the person or persons with that experience being or including a disabled person or persons.
(2)In this section the reference to the Post Office Users’ Councils is a reference to the Councils established under section 14 of the M1Post Office Act 1969, and in relation to those Councils this section shall extend to Northern Ireland.
