Fire Precautions Act 1971

2Premises exempt from s. 1

No fire certificate shall by virtue of section 1 of this Act be required in respect of premises of any of the following descriptions, that is to say—

(a)office premises, shop premises or railway premises within the meaning of the [1963 c. 41.] Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act 1963, or premises which are deemed to be such premises for the purposes of that Act;

(b)any premises constituting, or forming part of, a factory within the meaning of the [1961 c. 34.] Factories Act 1961 or to which any provisions of that Act apply by virtue of section 124 (institutions) or section 125 (docks, etc.) thereof;

(c)any premises which for the purposes of the [1954 c. 70.] Mines and Quarries Act 1954 are deemed to form part of a mine or quarry;

(d)any premises appropriated to, and used solely or mainly for, public religious worship ;

(e)any premises consisting of or comprised in a house which is occupied as a single private dwelling.
