This Act may be cited as the Recess Elections Act 1975.

In section 6(4) of the M1House of Commons Disqualification Act 1975 (effect of disqualification and provision for relief) for the words “apart from this provision” there shall be substituted the words “by virtue of the Recess Elections Act 1975”.

Section 106(2) of the M2Bankruptcy Act 1914 (notification of Member’s bankruptcy to Speaker) is repealed, as being unnecessary owing to section 33(1) of the M3Bankruptcy Act 1883.

It is hereby declared that this Act extends to Northern Ireland.
