An Act to amend the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970; and to provide access and parking facilities for disabled persons at newly provided places of employment in order to improve employment opportunities for disabled persons.

Be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
In section 4(2) of the [1970 c. 44.] Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons Act 1970, after the words " of section 8 " there shall be inserted the words " or in subsection (2) of section 8A ".
After section 8 of the said Act there shall be inserted the following section:
(1)Any person undertaking the provision of premises mentioned in subsection (2) below shall in the means of access both to and within the premises, and in the parking facilities and sanitary conveniences to be available (if any), make provision, in so far as it is in the circumstances both practicable and reasonable, for the needs of persons using the premises who are disabled.
(2)Premises to which this section applies are:—
(a)office premises, shop premises and railway premises to which the Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act 1963 applies;
(b)premises which are deemed to be such premises for the purposes of that Act, and
(c)factories as defined by section 175 of the Factories Act 1961, being (in each case) premises in which persons are employed to work.”
This Act may be cited as the Chronically Sick and Disabled Persons (Amendment) Act 1976.
