This Act may be cited as the Insolvency Act 1976.

Except where the context otherwise requires, any reference in this Act to any enactment is a reference to that enactment as amended or extended by or under any other enactment, including this Act.

The enactments mentioned in Schedule 3 to this Act are hereby repealed to the extent specified in the third column to that Schedule.

This Act shall come into force on such date as may be specified by the Secretary of State by order made by statutory instrument; and different dates may be specified for different provisions.

This Act does not extend to Northern Ireland; and only sections 1, 5, . . . F2, and this section and Schedule 1 extend to Scotland.
